Heritage
Chateau Cheval Blanc, located on the Right Bank of Bordeaux in the prestigious Saint-Emilion appellation, boasts a storied history dating back to the mid-19th century. The estate was established in 1832 when it was purchased by Jean-Jacques Ducasse, and it has since evolved into one of the most renowned wine producers in the world. Chateau Cheval Blanc is unique in its terroir, which combines the gravel soils typical of the Medoc with the clay and sandy soils more commonly found in Pomerol. This diverse terroir allows the estate to cultivate both Merlot and Cabernet Franc to exceptional standards. The chateau’s reputation was solidified in 1954 when it was classified as a Premier Grand Cru Classe (A), the highest distinction in the Saint-emilion classification system.
Wine Produced
Chateau Cheval Blanc is celebrated for its distinctive and luxurious wines, primarily composed of Merlot and Cabernet Franc, with occasional additions of Cabernet Sauvignon. The estate's flagship wine, Chateau Cheval Blanc, is known for its extraordinary complexity, balance, and aging potential. The wines are crafted through meticulous viticultural practices, including hand-harvesting and precise sorting to ensure only the finest grapes are used. Fermentation takes place in temperature-controlled wooden vats, followed by aging in new French oak barrels, which enhances the wine's depth and structure.
